Chapter I
Enhanced DAL

nhancements to the DAL

There are a number of enhancements to the DAL that will make the process more efficient.

  • New DAL Processor (DLP) Authorization Code. This code will be assigned to the person responsible for inputting DAL requests into the system on behalf of the Dean, Director, or Chair (DDC) or the Responsible Fiscal Officer (RFO). There may be more than one DLP for a department or project. After the DLP inputs the request, workflow will then send the request to the appropriate DDC or RFO for approval.

  • Bulk Copy and Approval Features. All the employee authorizations for a department or project will be able to be copied and assigned to another department or project. Likewise, all the SpeedTypes and associated department or project authorizations for an employee can be copied and assigned to another employee (for example, when an employee retires or resigns), which will eliminate the need to select individual authorizations. In addition, approvals can be done in bulk from one screen
  • Automated DAL Approval. Automated training and security verifications will speed up the DAL approval process. Security for an employee will immediately update as soon as the system verifies that the employee’s training and ethics form requirements have been met.

The Enhanced DAL places a heavy emphasis on e-mail to communicate. The e-mails will provide step-by-step instructions on how to perform a requested action or will notify you of a completed DAL verification. Click here to see a table of the e-mails that DAL workflow will generate.
