UCF Financials 8.9 Upgrade -
Interactive Design/Prototyping (IDP) Sessions Underway
During November and December 2005, Financials Support Services (FSS) will present the Interactive Design/Prototyping™ (IDP) sessions for the University of Central Florida (UCF), which will be attended by principals and associated administrative staff. During the IDP sessions, FSS team members will present Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials 8.9 software product information and engage in discussions to determine optimal use of the system for UCF.
What is IDP?
Interactive Design/Prototyping (IDP) ™ sessions are not training sessions; rather, they are a series of interactive design and trouble shooting sessions that bring together various functional groups from Administration & Finance. These sessions provide an opportunity for principals and experts to work together to design and update a software prototype. This is achieved by reviewing and comparing the existing UCF Financials Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.4 with the newer version 8.9.
These sessions will be attended by key users who provide input based on their knowledge and experience of Financials business processes. Working as a group allows users and support staff to identify fits or gaps and to propose methods that enable a quick and accurate upgrade. Designing and troubleshooting during these sessions produces early tangible results by recognizing system differences immediately. These changes are included in the prototype and are reviewed throughout development and testing phases.
At the conclusion of this design process, UCF will have a detailed understanding of how the upgraded software will support its requirements and any modification that will need to be applied or processes that need updated. In addition, UCF will have a complete project template to accomplish modification, enhancement, conversion, and implementation. This overall model will provide enough structure to drive the project forward while maintaining necessary control and accountability.
