FSS Team Members Present at the Alliance 2006 Conference in Nashville
This year, six proposals submitted by FSS team members were accepted for presentation at the first Alliance 2006 conference. Previously known as the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) conference, it has been renamed to recognize that several user groups and not just HEUG members have been and will continue to attend the conference. Now included in Alliance are the State & Local Government User Group (SLG), the Federal User Group (FUN), and the Oracle Higher Education Special Interest Group (HE-SIG).
Managed by the non-profit Higher Education User Group, this was the 9 th annual event for the HEUG. This year more than 4,300 attendees came together to share their experiences and learn from their colleagues.
The presentations made by the FSS team members for this year covered the following topics:
- Mastering the art of nVision as an invaluable tool for generating financial reports,
- Reviewing the communication plan and winning strategy used by UCF for the Enterprise Financials 8.4 implementation and the on-going upgrade to Financials 8.9.
- Reviewing topics of interest to trainers and help desk personnel at the Training and End-User Support Track’s Birds of a Feather Meeting.
- Creatively enhancing the journal upload process by adding data integrity features to automate tedious journal entry processes.
- Providing functionality for requesting and processing requests for creating or updating departments and projects.
- Using Application Messaging to integrate PeopleSoft Financials 8.4 with SA/HR 8.0, including tips for improving and enhancing the integrations and pitfalls to avoid.
For this year’s Alliance conference, Becky Vilsack and Mark Wray, co-chairs of the Training and End-User Support track, helped to solicit and grade more than 40 submissions, and ultimately helped to select the 26 presentations that were offered for this track. For the Alliance 2007 conference in Orlando, Becky will serve as Track Chair, with Mark again aiding as Assistant Track Chair.
