Project LIFTOFF Team Wins Prestigious Davis Award
The
Project LIFTOFF team was recently recognized for outstanding
efforts in conjunction with the implementation of the
PeopleSoft Financials 8.4 system. The nine-member team
was presented with a Davis Productivity Award plaque acknowledging
their accomplishments.
"The team went above and beyond to make sure that
the university's resources were spent wisely and yet installed
a fully functional financial system for the university,"
said Linda Bonta, UCF Controller. "The efforts of
these individuals amounted to the time of approximately
3.5 FTE during the project time period. The cost implications
to UCF were monumental if the implementation would have
needed to be delayed for one year," Bonta added.
The team consisted of staff members from the Finance
and Accounting Department as well as the Computer Services
and Telecommunications Department. Recognized for their
outstanding work were Rebecca Vilsack, Regino Besana,
Dorann Mullins, Monica Rodriguez, Elena Wilson, and Varsha
Das from Finance and Accounting, and John Moody, Tim Larson,
and Brad Smith from Computer Services.
The
Davis Productivity Awards recognize and reward state government
employees whose work significantly and measurably increases
productivity and promotes innovation to improve the delivery
of state services and save money for Florida taxpayers
and businesses. The awards are made possible by the vision
and generosity of the late J. E. Davis and his brother,
the late A. D. Davis, co-founders of WinnDixie Stores
and co-founders of Florida TaxWatch.
Bonta noted that the UCF project innovations that contributed
to the award were the team's training methodology, spreadsheet
imports, asset inventory management, and purchase order
fax functionality that can be adapted and implemented
at other universities. She also noted that the team is
acting in an advisory capacity to other state universities
that are currently implementing PeopleSoft Financials.
